| Cam Newton!?!? They just drafted Jimmy Clausen last year?!?! He had 3 TDs and 9 INTs! I bet if he had a whole year, he could almost double those numbers! | |

| Atlanta goes King Kong ball outs and jumps from 27 to 6 to take Julio Jones! That's gonna cost a fortune. | |

| I would have rather had Taylor.. but I'm really not disappointed. I like how Baltimore missed their pick though hahaha! So with the Now #26 pick, the Kansas City Chiefs draft
WR Jon Baldwin
I'll take it! | |

| Baldwin is a good pick for us. Will really open things up on our offense. | |

| What a 1st round. Trades Everywhere! I love the Baldwin pick and think he is an immediate starter at our biggest need. | |

| Gotta be a pash rusher or G/C next. We can wait a round or two on drafting a fat guy to put in the middle of the defense. | |

| Not disappointed we wound up with Baldwin, but we could have landed him at 55. Reed or Carimi would have been better choices IMO. Looks like Pioli is going to reach every other year. | |

As much as I like Baldwin, i really liked the look of Carimi, all out maulers with the ability to play LT dont come out very often. I'm really surprised he didn't go before he did. I just love dominate O lineman. U never can have enough of them. He would have been a stud at the RT spot for us. I think Pioli was concerned about Baldwin being gone by 55. The sportscasters were saying he was no doubt the 3rd best WR in the draft. It would have been nice to have Carimi.

| I sure like Baldwin at 26 a hell of a lot better than I like a couple of crippled drafts and Jones at 6. There was no way Baldwin would have made it through the gauntlet of small receivers about to take over the second round like the QBs did in the first. | |

I agree, he would have been gone.

It's not out of the realm of possibility that Brooks Reed makes his way to us in the second. Him falling would possibly scare me off of him though. As much as some people get all wet when talking about Reed, I've seen him rated as no better than a 4th rounder by a few others. Not sure if he can man the OLB opposite Hali. I think we need an all-around linebacker, not another converted DE. My pick is Martez Wilson because of his versatility or Dontay Moch because good things happen when measureables meet production.

Franklin's got a chance to emerge as a starting right tackle but could also settle in as a guard. Has very impressive measureables. Outstanding run blocker who gets off the ball quickly and is capable of holding up at the point or pulling and getting to the second level. Does a great job locating blitzers, staying home against stunts or helping out when not covered up. Can be tested when asked to mirror quicker pass rushers. Relentless player who wants to finish every block like its his last. Franklin has the physical gifts and on-field smarts to be selected early in the draft.

| 55. Kansas City: Rodney Hudson, OG/C, Florida State The Brian Waters clone could step in at center immediately to help keep Jamaal Charles and Thomas Jones productive, as well as protect QB Matt Cassel | |

| 55. Kansas City: Sam Acho, OLB, Texas The selection of Pittsburgh WR Jon Baldwin in the first round was a head-scratcher in many ways. Scott Pioli goes back to his roots with a high-effort pass rusher to fit the Chiefs' 3-4 scheme in Round 2

| No. 26: Chiefs select: Jon Baldwin, WR, Pittsburgh - GRADE: C
He is a big-time player, but there are questions about his attitude. Some teams hated him. But he does fill a need

| 26. Kansas City Chiefs – Jonathan Baldwin – WR
Grade: C+
The Chiefs got Matt Cassell another weapon to pair up with Bowe similar to the Falcons drafting Jones. However, Baldwin isn’t a first round guy in my opinion. He has a lot of question marks about his game and could potentially have some character concerns. The Chiefs also had bigger needs. Their OL is still going to struggle

| The Kansas City Chiefs had a roller-coaster type ride in the first round of the 2011 NFL Draft on Thursday night.
It began when KC, who was supposed to have the 21st overall pick, decided to trade the pick to the Cleveland Browns, who were eying former Baylor star DT Phil Taylor.
Then, it got even crazier when the Baltimore Ravens ran out of time with their pick, allowing the Chiefs to jump ahead of them and take the 26th selection of this year's draft.
Then come the most surprising news of the night for Chiefs fans: KC selected wideout Jonathan Baldwin.
Baldwin, who has a bit of a checkered past with some character concerns, was one of the best receivers available when the Chiefs turn came up with their 26th pick.
It's easy to see why this was a good pick.
Baldwin should be a legitimate #2, possibly #1 receiver in this league, he has that kind of potential.
He would also give new teammate Dwayne Bowe a lift, by freeing up the Chiefs' Pro-Bowl receiver, because of his size and freakish athletic ability.
Many say that the Chiefs could have picked up Baldwin in the second round, but I am not in this boat.
What should the Chiefs grade be for Round 1? A B+ B- C D F Submit Vote vote to see results What should the Chiefs grade be for Round 1? A 24.9% B+ 41.1% B- 20.2% C 8.8% D 3.4% F 1.7% Total votes: 297 He is a very talented receiver and likely would have been scooped up in the early part of round two, and I believe that Kansas City just got another franchise receiver in Baldwin, as he can be someone that they can build their draft around.
Chiefs First-Round Draft Grade: B+
The only reason it isn't an A, is because he has some past character issues, but I think coach Todd Haley and his staff will be able to work with him, much like Haley has already done with past receiver throughout his career, including the likes of one Dwayne Bowe.
Overall, the Chiefs had a solid start to the draft, let's just keep it going on Friday.
