Chiefs: One big question

Is quarterback Matt Cassel ready to lead this team on a deep playoff run?

There is no doubt the Chiefs believe in Cassel. It is up to him to prove the team right.

There was speculation in both free agency and before the draft that the Chiefs would replace Cassel, or, at least, bring in legitimate competition. Like many teams, the Chiefs showed initial interest in Peyton Manning, but he never returned the interest. The Chiefs also investigated some of the top quarterbacks available in the draft.

In the end, the Chiefs choose not to replace Cassel, but to build the roster around him.

As a result, the Chiefs have constructed one of the deepest rosters in the AFC. Many league observers believe the Chiefs are completely set, but Cassel remains a question mark.

If Cassel doesn’t succeed this season after being given every opportunity to do so, the Chiefs will have to consider making a change in 2013.

Cassel it's make or break. I defended you long enough. Prove me right or let me eat crow. It's time to show it man, or just go home.

I could see Cassel breaking out honestly. I really hope to see it from him or another QB like Stanzi or Quinn. He knows they were looking to replace him andhe could come out playing like someone would in a contract year.

And yes, the team is just loaded all around him. It would be near impossible for anyone to not make the playoffs with this team.

With that being said if he cowmes out has a good season with a loaded team then goes into round 1 of the playoffs against a good D like Baltimore or Pitt and holds onto the ball too long and takes 5 sacks and throws 3 picks is everybody going to say the same thing they did 2 years ago? Then he gets n extension and KC has zero chance at a SB for another 4 or 5 years

If Cassell gets another contract I would be so freaking pissed off it isn't even funny!

Id rather watch him bomb and get replaced. Im ready for this experiment to be done. He doesnt have the physical or mental tools. He's a backup QB whos still starting because he led the Patriots to an 11-5 record and hasnt done jack shit since 2010 was a fluke. Had it not been for JC opening up the passing game, he has another shit season. He turns 30 this month. He lacks arm strength and any sort of sense to be a great QB. Sooner he's gone the better.

Well will play these teams long before playoff time. So we will get our answer before then.
