- The Chiefs first rounder this year will simply be BPA. I could definitely see a trade down again this year and draft someone like Courtney Upshaw, Donta Hightower or Cordy Glenn. But if we stand pat, I don't think we'll try to draft for need. Now that the RT is solidified, Chiefs could go in any direction. Decastro, Trent Richardson, Melvin Ingram, Poe, Fletcher Cox, Kuechly and Devon Still all come to mind.
I can about guarantee they wont take Richardson at 11. I could see Kuechly being a real possibility at 11. Ingram sounds like an interesting guy but he didn't start until his senior year and he sounds like he's an inconsistant pass rusher at times. If Crennel brings in a guy like Wimbley for the rotation this one wont happen. I liked what I saw out of Houston last year and I would like to see him start again this year. I dont think they will take another DE unless they fear Dorsey walks this year. Even then I would be fine rolling with Amon Gordon/Bailey next year. For me it has to be Decastro/Kuechley or trade down. With good players being available its gonna be hard for me to except a trade down this year.

| I am to the point where I trust Pioli in the draft. The guy usually makes the right pick. Minus the T-Jack pick. | |

| My only problem with drafting Kuechly is that he is very much in the mold of Derrick Johnson. I don't think he can play the Jovan Belcher/run thumper role. I was wrong last year about Houston being too much in the Tambi Hali mold to make a big impact in his rookie season, but I really don't see that physical presence in Kuechly that he would need to play along side DJ. Especially when our NT position is as vulnerable as it is right now.
In replacing Jovan Belcher, i see Donta Hightower as a better value if we could get him later in the draft.

Kuechly is a damn tackling machine though and he has great athleticism. I really dont see them replacing Belcher as of now. They tendered him with a 2nd so they think pretty highly of him.

| If we need a badass thumper next to DJ, what about Jameel McClain. The dude lights RBs up. | |

| I like Hightower from Alabama. He's got about 20-30 pounds on Belcher. | |

| I dont like LBs from Alabama. It seems like they never live up to potential most of them. But I think Hightower will be a huge liability in coverage. | |

| Rust, what to do you about Tank Carder? I know you were talking about him. | |

| I wouldn't mind Carder in like the 4th round, I still like Siler who hasn't lived up to his talent level yet, but hes probably already our best run stopping LB on the roster. I really thought he was going to take over for Belcher last year at some point, but we lost him before the season started. Vontaze Burfict is really the guy I want though, even after such a disappointing combine. DeCastro has to be our pick in the first though, especially if we don't trade down. Hes one of the best players in the draft, hes just going to fall to us because of his position. | |

Burflict is a guy I want to. If he pulls a Justin Houston and we get him in the 3rd I will be super jazzed!

| He has that type of mean streak you need from a Lb on a great defense. Kinda reminds me of Lavar Arrington. If Crenel knows how to use him he's legit. Arrington was great in Washington as a free lancer like they also allowed him to do in college, he wasn't nearly as good in a disciplined scheme, Burflict might be the same. | |

| I dont think Pioli will take the chance that he would have to take to select Burfict. I think his mean streak is about all he has going for him. Without the nastiness, there isnt much there. He screwed up big time at the combine showing that he has poor work ethic and even interviewing horrible. | |

I don't think the combine hurts him worse than the 3rd round. The Mans tape speaks for itself. Somebody is gonna take a chance on him. In all honesty thats what the 3rd round is for. Players that play but have a knock.

Houston failed a drug test prior to the combine which hurt his stock too. I dont think Pioli is afraid to take guys with character issues..

| Houston wasnt a character issue. Burfict is. The interview answers that he had scared allot of teams off I know that. | |
