Case for a first round QB

Here are the results for the starting QBs in the Super Bowl since 1994 to Present (ran out of room on my paper). Winner listed first, loser second.

-9 times out of these 17 years a 1st overall drafted QB played in the Super Bowl (6 different players). (53% / 35%).

-9 out of 34 starting QBs were drafted 1st overall (6 different players). (27% / 25%)

-17 out of the 34 starting QBs were drafted in the 1st round (recounting returning QBs) (50%).

-A first round QB won the Super Bowl 10 out of 17 times (59%).

-There have been 3 QBs drafted in the 2nd round (9%), 3 from the 3rd round (9%), 1 from the 4th round (3%), zero from the 5th round, 6 from the 6th round (18%), and 4 undrafted QBs (12%) in the Super Bowl (counting repeat players).

-Only 3 out of these 17 consecutive Super Bowls have had starting QBs not drafted in the 1st round (18%).

Ultimately this shows that overwhelmingly a 1st round QB has a statistically higher chance of playing the Super Bowl than any other QB drafted outside of the 1st round.

A Super Bowl QB has been a 1st round draft pick 56% of the time, again overwhelmingly higher than any other round. If you do not count repeat players, it has been an even larger 63% of the time.

Exactly. Plus the fact that this is likely the best QB for our system we will ever be able to get. You have to do it while you can.. this chance isn't coming back around. We wont find a QB as talented and polished as Clausen, already knowing our offense and spent the last three years under our OC. Its now or never.

i just hope they have the balls to pull the trigger on this

I'm still not sold on drafting Clausen unless we can't trade down. It took you till ten days left on the drat to even consider Clausen. What actually made me finally think about the whole deal is when I looked back to Cassel's behavior. Not even his play bc there were times he did the best he could with the time given and the most dropsie receivers EVER plus your number 1 out 4 games no official number 2 till chamber game 6 i think. What really got me to think about Claussen is the slump you saw in Cassel's shoulder when the Broncs and a few others got up on us big. He lost his fight and it showed he had given up. The QB is your offensive leader when yuor leader gives that whole side of the ball gives. Clausen's messed up in the head but he might just be messed up enough to lead us to the SuperBowl. I still like Berry at a later pick for the record though.
