| Titans Cut Shaun Smith
Headshot_tiny by Joel Thorman on Aug 22, 2012 8:57 AM CDT
Shaun Smith is headed to the open market.
The former Kansas City Chiefs defensive tackle signed a three-year deal with the Tennessee Titans last year but the Titans have just cut him.
It's been real Nashville time to c what team I will be on next but am thankful for everythingand the lord will continue to bless me — shaun smith (@autumnsjs90) August 22, 2012
Last year the Chiefs were reportedly negotiating with him to stay in Kansas City before he agreed to a deal with the Titans. Smith was one of the Chiefs best free agent pickups during their division winning 2010 season.

| I would love to bring Shaun Smith back... But we would probably have to let Gordon go in that case. | |

| If we suffer an injury, he'll be the first guy on our list to call. Right now I dont see us making a move to bring him back though. He wont have a huge market so he shouldnt go anywhere. | |

| I can't see a roster spot for him on the Chiefs either at this time. But he'll most definitely be on speed dial in case someone goes down with an injury. Hopefully no one picks him up too quick.
Romeo was gushing like a teenage boy over Miley Cyrus (or whoever is cool these days) about him in an interview though......

| When Crennel is his coach, hes right up there with Dorsey, Jackson, and Poe. I wouldn't be surprised to see him added... its real odd that hes not good anywhere else besides with Romeo though. | |

This is a odd situation. I have come to like Amon Gordon and his stats are as good as Smith in the tackles department. Gordon was a sack better last year than Smith in 2010. I would hate to see him cut because he has played everywhere including the nose and is very effective. Smith should have known that Crennel was his ticket. I'm not sure what they do if anything. For me, if it means cutting Gordon then it's a no go! I don't see them carrying 2 DE's who are 31 years old.

| Smith just brings that attitude thats great to have on defense. I personally prefer him over Gordon. | |

| He's just a better 3-4 player than a 4-3 player.. | |

| Poe could probably play in either system with the athletic ability he has. hope he translates it to the field. wonder if KC is gonna work back to the 4/3 like many of the traditional 3/4 teams are doing now. they might already have many of the pieces to play it. | |

| I think we are versatile enough that we could play some 4-3... definitely on the DL. LB starts to get a little more complicated as Hali and Houston would likely be DE's.

| Dorsey Poe Jackson Toribio Pitoitua Bailey Powe
This should be our DL. If anybody is injured, Shaun Smith better be the first guy we call.

| Agreed give Smith a call no matter. D line needs some fire. | |

| We might not have to sign Smith, even though I'd really like to. When Torbio got hurt, Powe looked real good replacing him... maybe even better than Torbio. Pow could also play DE. | |

The game is set to record on my DVR tonight. I will finally get a look at the game. I have seen some other flashes from Powe this preseason.

| Powe has easily been the best NT all preseason..He's almost always getting a solid push into the backfield. Against Arizona he was pushing the lineman back into the QB and still managed to get the sack. Against Seattle there was one run play where he just blew up the hole. He was getting a decent push against the Rams as well. | |

I agree! I could see him the starter here real soon.

| Thatll be interesting to see how he does out of the gate. Hopefully they let Powe get some reps with the 1s as well. Maybe line up Powe at DE and Poe at NT a couple plays. | |

| If either of them get snaps a DE, it would be Poe. | |

| Yep we worked him out but didn't sign him. But just be seeing where hes at and told him to keep ready if he doesn't sign anywhere. | |
