Chiefs could start two rookie safeties

The Chiefs knew they were drafting a starting safety when they took Eric Berry in the first round in April, but they didn't realize they were likely drafting another one in Round Five in Kendrick Lewis. With restricted free agent Jarrad Page still unsigned and missing the entire offseason program, Lewis frequently has been running with Berry on the first team, doing some positive things in OTAs, such as returning an interception for a touchdown. From what we hear, the rookie from Ole Miss has the inside track on one of the starting jobs, especially with the disgruntled Page being a possible trade candidate. The first player from the team's 2010 draft class to sign, Lewis is a smart, aggressive player who isn't afraid to take charge. Although the pairing of he and Berry will leave the Chiefs very inexperienced in the defensive backfield, it should be an improvement over last year's veteran duo of Mike Brown and Jon McGraw, which struggled to prevent big plays.

Like the article said. Even if both rookies start. Would be in better shape than last year.

There is no doubt going to be some bone headed mistakes that lead to big plays maybe even TDs. But I think the unit as a whole will be far better than last year.

I personally would rather see Berry at FS and either Langford or Morgan at SS if its not Page.

I'm wondering if Morgan even makes the roster at this point. The new regime is not pleased with him at all. I dont know about Berry, I read hes quite the hitter. He finished OTA's at SS but i guess that could change.

MLive.com's Tom Kowalski confirms that the Lions have had conversations with the Chiefs about disgruntled S Jarrad Page.

"Of course, they are," Kowalski wrote in response to a reader's email. ESPN's Len Pasquarelli reported Detroit's interest on Sunday. Page would be an instant upgrade at strong safety for the Lions, but the Chiefs' asking price is unclear. We can't imagine Detroit offering more than a late-round pick.

I heard we also moved Donald Washignton to S? What are the chances he gets playing time?...Page has made it clear he wants to be traded...i also heard Morgan was not impressing to much... I know with 2 rookie S we can make a lot of mistakes..but y not. We are not a S.B ready team so y not give them as much time to devolp as poss
